OpenSimulator

OpenSimulator is a server side platform for making 3d interactive content accessible to the average computer user.

OpenSimulator is written in C# and is designed to be easily expanded through the use of plug-in modules.

OpenSimulator utilizes loadable modules for most of its functionality. These loadable modules can be independently developed to add features to the server.

OpenSimulator uses an architecture known as "Hypergrid", which allows users to teleport between multiple OpenSimulator based Virtual Worlds by providing protocols to connect the various grids.

This allows public grids to link to each other without having to be on the same servers.

In effect this allows an infinite number of Virtual Worlds to be linked together echoing the architecture of the traditional WWW.
